George Lazenby goes to war with Pam Shriver over children

George Lazenby didn’t cause much of a stir when he played James Bond in the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, but his battle to win custody of his three children by tennis ace Pam Shriver (pictured with the O07 actor) should prove more than diverting. In papers lodged at the Los Angeles Superior Court, he claims that the former Wimbledon doubles champion is addicted to alcohol and painkillers and once hurled golf clubs at him in a rage.

He says Shriver, who petitioned for divorce two weeks ago citing "irreconcilable differences", is incapable of looking after their children, two-year-old twin girls Katie and Sammy and four-year-old daughter Georgie, without the help of a team of nannies.

The papers read: "I have great concerns about Petitioner’s habitual consumption of prescription painkillers, Ambien sleeping pills and rum or vodka each night and during the day. I have observed Petitioner wake up on many mornings in a stupor from her nightly cocktail. Petitioner is in no condition to drive in the morning. I have warned Petitioner on numerous occasions to refrain from transporting our children in the car when she is in such a state."

Shriver is no less vocal about 68-year-old Lazenby’s failings. Her court papers showed a list of complaints, saying he was an alcoholic who once offered beer to their infant children.

Lazenby, who was allowed only one outing as Bond, is not the first 007 actor to be embroiled in a fight with his wife. The First Post reported recently how Sean Connery’s ex, Diane Cilento, had accused him of being mean with his money, even cutting his son out of his will – an accusation Connery has since poo-poohed.
