Morrissey says don’t buy my DVD

Rock star Morrissey, formerly of the Mancunian rock band The Smiths, is urging his fans not to buy his forthcoming DVD, Morrissey Live At The Hollywood Bowl. Despite the claim that it captures a "career-defining performance", the singer is distancing himself from the film, which he claims has been released by his former record company Warner Bros against the terms of his contract and is just a shoddy money-spinner.

"The slapdash release is being done by Warner without any consultation to me whatsoever," he writes on his fansite True To You. "It is in breach of their terms as laid out by them in an agreement made with my ex-manager." He adds: "Being Warner, the sleeve art is predictably appalling. It is the work of cash-hounds, and I urge people not to buy it."

However, Morrissey is not being entirely altruistic. "I am not signed to Warner, and no royalties from this DVD will come to me," he says. "Please spend your money elsewhere."
