In brief: Angelina Jolie’s violent poster banned

Posters for Angelina Jolie’s (pictured) latest action film Wanted have been banned by the British Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) because they glamourise gun crime and are likely to provoke violence or antisocial behaviour. The ban was imposed on the advert, which featured a gun-toting Jolie lying across the bonnet of a car and a bullet curving towards the audience, after the ASA received 17 complaints from the public............The singer Lily Allen has revealed – mysteriously - that a close friend of hers was abducted at gunpoint and held hostage for seven days and has thanked the Metropolitan Police for rescuing the person she refers only to as 'Charlie'. Says Allen: "My friend Charlie was kidnapped a few weeks ago and was kept in a car boot for six days without any food or anything. It was really scary. Thank you to the Met for getting my friend back. We were all terrified and from what I hear the police did an amazing job". Police have arrested six men in connection with the kidnapping ............. Works by the graffiti artist Banksy are being offered in a raffle competition; 250 tickets went on sale today at £5,000 each. For that, the owners will be given one small art work by an artist represented by The Lazarides Gallery and this will also allow them to take part in a lucky dip that could see them end up with a Banksy worth £200,000 plus. The draw will be held on October 16 during the week of the Frieze art fair .............Actress Natalie Portman has made her debut as a movie director with a short film called Eve starring two Hollywood veterans, Lauren Bacall and Ben Gazzara; the romance received glowing reviews at the Venice Film Festival.......
