Princess Di snapper Demarchelier wants to shoot Camilla
Patrick Demarchelier (pictured), the photographer responsible for the iconic photographs of Diana, Princess of Wales that appeared in Vogue magazine in the early 1990s, is keen to aim his lens at her successor, The Duchess of Cornwall (pictured). In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Demarchelier said: "I'd love to do her, but she would be very hard to photograph because she's not photogenic. She's got an interesting face, but I'd need a lot of time with her because I haven’t seen any pictures of her where she looks beautiful. Rather than ask her to my studio, I would go to her house and make sure she felt really comfortable and confident. Then I'd get her to laugh - really laugh."
Demarchelier, 65, who is currently promoting an exhibition of his photographs being held in Paris, also shared his thoughts on Carla Bruni (a friend of 15 years standing from her modelling days) and her marriage to the French president Nicolas Sarkozy. "If he [Sarkozy] starts sniffing around elsewhere, she will leave because she's got a strong character. And if he's not elected again she probably will too. So they’ve got eight years."
But the Sarkozy/Bruni union appears to be going well enough for now. Says the photographer: "They do have a lot of fun together and I like Nicolas. That said, like all little men he has a real Napoleon complex: they always need to show off. He must be spectacular in bed because he has to make up for things, and prove things, you know?"
