When Guy Ritchie enlisted the support of his wife Madonna last week at the premiere of his latest gangster caper movie, RocknRolla (pictured), many were quick to say it was the action of a desperate man who thought he had a turkey on his hands. However, against all expectations, it appears Ritchie's movie, which stars Gerard Butler and Thandie Newton, is a hit. It has opened at number one in the UK film charts and taken more than £1.5m in six days........... JK Rowling has won the legal case she brought against a man attempting to publish an unauthorised Harry Potter encyclopedia. A New York judge permanently blocked publication of the reference guide and awarded Rowling and Warner Bros $6,750 in damages........... The production team making Daniel Craig's latest movie are being sued for £100,000 after causing extensive damage to a house they were using to shoot Flashbacks of a Fool, which has been bankrolled by and starts the 007 actor….. British actress Minnie Driver has given birth to a baby boy but is keeping mum about the father's identity. She says the unidentified father is English and will be involved in the baby's upbringing, but no more............ Film director Woody Allen's first foray into directing opera, a re-interpretation of Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini with Los Angeles Opera, has won praise. Allen treated the one-act production as an old Italian film, which brought laughter during the performance and several curtain calls afterwards.........
