Anna Wintour doubles up with the Williams sisters
Roger who? American Vogue editor Anna Wintour may not have had her friend Roger Federer in tow for the Oscar de la Renta show on Wednesday (the Swiss champion attended the previous two years) but she found two new tennis partners to attend New York Fashion Week with on Thursday. La Wintour was sitting beside Serena and Venus Williams at 27-year-old wunderkind Zac Posen's show.
It was good she had some company after more than 100 people at Fashion Week gave the notoriously icy editor a piece of their mind - admittedly anonymously - by scrawling thoughts about Wintour on a painting. Painter Geoffrey Raymond hawked his portrait of Wintour, dubbed The Annotated Anna, to Bryant Park and asked fashionistas to write a message to Wintour on the canvas. Comments ranged from "Scaaary!"‚ to the more flattering "You look great without the sunglasses". Raymond plans to sell the painting on eBay, with a starting bid of $3,500.
Other shows on Thursday included Tommy Hilfiger, whose spring collection featured chic trenchcoats for women and, for the men, slightly shrunken suits worn with no socks. Highlights from Vera Wang’s show included slim-line dresses in organza and silk, in black, orange and charcoal.
