In brief: Pink Floyd’s Rick Wright dies

Pink Floyd keyboard player and founder member Richard Wright has died, aged 65, from cancer. Wright appeared on the group's first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, in 1967 alongside lead guitarist Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Nick Mason.......... Prince William has decided to become a full-time helicopter pilot with the RAF's search-and-rescue force. He will start the 18-month training programme next year and, once qualified as a Sea King pilot, he will be on call for emergency rescues on land and sea.......... Katie Couric, the CBS news anchor, has allegedly secured an interview with Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. This will come as a relief to Couric’s fans who in April were told America’s highest-paid news anchor was about to be fired from her job as a result of flagging ratings…..... Former soap star Jason Donovan is set to appear in a stage adaptation of the 1994 cult camp flick Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Donovan will play the role of Tick, originally played by Hugo Weaving in the Oscar-winning film…..........
