In brief: Brideshead Revisited premiere
The cast of the big-screen adapatation of Evelyn Waugh's classic novel Brideshead Revisited gathered at the Bluebell restaurant in Chelsea yesterday before heading off to the West End for the film's premiere. The movie, which features Emma Thompson, Matthew Goode, Hayley Atwell and Ben Whishaw (pictured left to right), has been widely criticised by Waugh fans for including new scenes and playing down the theme of Catholicism that runs through the book ............The blouse worn by the late Diana, Princess of Wales in a Vogue shoot to commemorate her engagement to Prince Charles in 1980 is to be sold at auction. The seller is designer Elizabeth Emanuel, who also created Diana's wedding dress. It has been put on the market because she is experiencng financial difficulties………… The Bafta-winning TV comedy Peep Show, starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb, is being re-made for the American market. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the US network has ordered a pilot of the Channel 4 series from the writers of the British version Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong............ Adnan Ghalib, the British paparazzo who briefly dated Britney Spears, has claimed that he has a sex tape of the singer which he is contemplating selling.............. Meanwhile, Spears has announced that she plans to make her first international tour since 2004 to support her highly anticipated new album, Circus …….... Former Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant has put paid to persistent rumors that the British rock giants are planning to reunite for a tour. Said a spokesman: "Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin"............Janet Jackson was taken to hospital on Monday after falling ill shortly before a concert in Canada. The 42-year-old singer also cancelled a weekend Detroit stop of her Rock Witchu tour due to "production constraints" ………….. Sir Simon Rattle is to be awarded the Freedom of Liverpool at a ceremony in his home city. The 53-year-old conductor, who has led the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra since 1999, becomes the fifth musician to be given the honour - the other four being The Beatles…………. More woes for OJ Simpson, who is standing trial for armed robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas. On Monday the prosecution ended its case by reiterating that the former sports star told one of his co-conspirators to "pull out your gun and look menacing" before the alleged robbbery took place. OJ's defence will claim he didn't know the people he was with were carrying guns .............
