Are Bernie Ecclestone’s girls at odds over fur?

Petra and Tamara Ecclestone (pictured left with her sister), the daughters of Formula 1 billionaire Bernie Ecclestone, may be full of sisterly love, but when it comes down to use of fur it appears they are in different camps. Tamara, 24, is currently the "face" of the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Meanwhile, her 19-year old Petra could be seen as an advocate of everything Tamara opposes. Tonight, she is hosting a launch party for a new clothing range at Harrods – a long-term bête noire of the animal rights lobby because it sells fur.

According to the Independent, Tamara's name is noticeably absent from the guest list. Says PETA (not Petra): "We have had quite a lot of involvement against Harrods in the past concerning both foie gras and fur. We have requested meetings with them. Unfortunately they have refused." Perhaps Petra could have a word with Harrod's boss Mohammed Fayed this evening. Then again, perhaps not.
