Karl Lagerfeld looks to the future
It was almost as if Victoria Beckham had become Karl Lagerfeld's new muse. The designer’s chic and feminine collection for the Paris pret-a-porter season yesterday included wasp waists with cinched belts, leather gloves and monochrome colours - bringing la Beckham to mind. The show also had a futuristic element to it, with silver evening wear and ankle cuffs featuring on the runway. Lagerfeld (pictured at the end of Wednesday's show) will unveil his second collection, for Chanel, at the Grand Palais on Friday morning.
Meanwhile over at Christian Lacroix, the designer said he had "gone back to his roots" in the face of the global financial crisis. "When times are hard, the best medicine is to face the crisis with guts and your true personality... I am a gypsy at heart." This translated on the catwalk as peasant-style dresses, matador capes and thigh-high ruffles.
