In brief: Jude Law plays Dr Watson

Jude Law (pictured) has announced that he will play Dr Watson to Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes in Guy Ritchie's forthcoming film about the English super sleuth. But Ritchie, whose last cockney gangster caper RocknRolla defied the critics' predictions by topping the UK box office, will face keen competition on the new film: Sacha Baron Cohen is also to play Holmes in a comedy version due out at the same time next year............Meanwhile, an advertisement directed by Ritchie which features some of the world's top footballers has become one of the most popular videos on YouTube. Millions of internet users have watched the Nike advert which charts the progression of a young football player who goes on to play for Arsenal and Holland after being spotted by Arsene Wenger.............. Artist Mark Quinn's 50kg solid gold statue of model Kate Moss is to be unveiled at the British Museum today. The £1.5m sculpture, entitled Siren, is described by the museum as an "Aphrodite of our times", and features alongside works by Turner prize-winners Damien Hirst and Antony Gormley………….. Kylie Minogue won two gongs at this year's BT Digital Music Awards on Wednesday night. Radiohead were crowned artists of the year and Coldplay won best rock/indie artist and best official music website............ The jury selection process will start today in the second murder trial of "wall of sound" music producer Phil Spector - a year after his first trial ended with jurors deadlocked over whether he shot dead a struggling B-movie actress, Lana Jackson, at his Los Angeles mansion...........
