In brief: Del Toro at Che premiere

Hollywood actor Benicio Del Toro (pictured) attended the UK premiere of Che, Steven Soderbergh's four-hour biopic of the Argentinean revolutionary Che Guevara, at the London Film Festival over the weekend. Speaking afterwards, Soderbergh was keen to speak about his next project, a musical version of the life of Cleopatra starring Catherine Zeta-Jones. “I know Cleopatra stole that haircut from Louise Brooks,” he said, “but Catherine looks great in it" ............. Russell Brand has apologised for offending Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs after leaving a message on his answering machine in which he boasted that he had slept with his granddaughter. The comic made the call on his Saturday night BBC Radio 2 programme, on which Jonathan Ross was a guest. Earlier this year, Brand was forced to apologise for making a hoax call to the police during a stage show in Northampton. He rang a police line in front of an audience and said he may have spotted a man who was responsible for a series of assaults........... Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson has offered a $100,000 reward for information about her seven-year-old nephew, who went missing at the weekend following the murders of Hudson's mother and brother in Chicago………… Former SAS soldier Chris Ryan, the author of such derring-do capers as Zero Option, Hunted and Ultimate Weapon, has penned a romantic novel called The Fisherman's Daughter - under a female pseudonym, Molly Jackson………… According to the News of The World, Elle MacPherson is dating a convicted drug-trafficker. The paper claims that the supermodel has become close to Brian Burgess, 56, who served a four-year sentence for attempting to smuggle 2kg of cocaine from the US in hollowed-out boots…………. Bono, the U2 singer, is to write a music column for the New York Times………….
