Palin falls for fake Sarkozy
Sarah Palin (pictured), the Republican party's vice-presidential candidate, was duped at the weekend by two comics from the Montreal radio station CKOI into thinking she was getting a phone call from the French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel, a comic duo who call themselves the Masked Avengers, managed to convince Palin's minders that that they were bona fide. There then followed an excruciating six-minute call. At one point, the fake president, played by Audette, told Palin one of his favourite pastimes was hunting, also a passion of the Alaskan Governor.
"I just love killing those animals. Mmm, mmm, take away life, that is so fun," said Audette/Sarkozy, proposing that they go hunting together by helicopter. Palin, who didn't smell a rat, replied: "Well, I think we could have a lot of fun together while we're getting work done. We can kill two birds with one stone that way."
Palin praised Sarkozy throughout the call and also mentioned his wife, model-turned-singer Carla Bruni. "You know, I look forward to working with you and getting to meet you personally and your beautiful wife," Palin said. "Oh my goodness, you've added a lot of energy to your country with that beautiful family of yours."
The Sarkozy impersonator then told Palin that his wife was "so hot in bed" and then informed her that Bruni had written a song for her about Joe the Plumber entitled "Du rouge a levres sur une cochonne" — which translates as "Lipstick on a Pig."
She began to get a little suspicious when ‘Sarkozy’ told her he loved the ‘documentary’ made about her, a reference to Who's Nailin' Paylin?, a porn film released by Larry Flynt, the publisher of Hustler magazine, which features an uncanny lookalike of Palin. "Ohh, good, thank you, yes," she answered tentatively.
