In brief: Chinese wooed by Lowe and Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governor of California, has enlisted the help of his friend and fellow actor Rob Lowe (both pictured) to help entertain Chinese officials attending his climate change summit in Los Angeles this week. The delegation visited the set of the US sitcom Brothers & Sisters, in which Lowe stars, and were then given a tour of Paramount Studios by the actor…………Jonathan Ross may face further disciplinary action over the "Manuelgate" affair. Sir Michael Lyons, the chairman of the BBC Trust, has told a House of Commons enquiry that it had been "premature" for the corporation to announce that the presenter would be returning to the air waves on January 24 following his three-month suspension………… Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the son of the King of Bahrain, suggested on Tuesday that Michael Jackson be "bandaged up" and put on a plane to the UK. He is suing the singer for £4.7 million for breach of contract on a record deal, and is unimpressed by claims made by lawyers that Jackson is too ill to travel the UK.............John Sergeant, the former political journalist, has quit the BBC programme Strictly Come Dancing following criticism of his performances by the show's judges. Refering to the fact he had only been kept in the tournament by the public's vote, he said: "The trouble is that there is now a real danger that I might win the competition. Even for me that would be a joke too far"………… Meanwhile, Labour minister Hazel Blears has told the Total Politics website that she would like to be a contestant on the show and revealed that she had reformed the House of Commons dance troupe, the Division Belles, to prepare herself. Said Blears: "We're having lessons every Monday night, doing songs from the shows"…………
