In brief: Cheryl Cole makes the cover of Vogue
Cheryl Cole, the Girls Aloud singer, wife of England and Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole and judge on The X Factor, has another feather in her cap. She has made the front cover of the February issue of Vogue, a remarkable feat that will no doubt trouble fellow footballers' WAGs Victoria Beckham, who waited 12 years for the same honour, and Coleen McLoughlin, the shopaholic wife of Wayne Rooney, who the magazine felt warranted a feature in 2005 but no cover. In the accompanying interview, Cole (pictured in Vogue), 24, who was brought up on a tough Newcastle housing estate, talks about her 2003 conviction for attacking a lavatory attendant in a nightclub. "I never denied hitting her and I would have hit her again at the time. That's what we were taught on the estate - you have to defend yourself and that's what I was doing"………… British actor Gary Oldman, 50, has married for the fourth time, tying the knot with musician Alexandra Edenborough in a secret ceremony in Santa Barbara, California. Edenborough, who was born in Somerset but now works as a jazz singer in Los Angeles, is 19 years Oldman's junior………….Pop singer Lily Allen could appear as the sidekick of the newly appointed Dr Who, Matt Smith, in the footsteps of Billie Piper. The BBC show's executive producer, Piers Wenger, said Lily would be "a lot of fun"……….. Former US president, George Bush Snr, wants his youngest son Jeb to run for the White House…………. Amy Winehouse is reported to be in talks with executives at Fred Perry to produce her own fashion range………… The body of John Travolta's 16-year-old son Jett, who died at the weekend, will be flown back to Florida from the Bahamas today. The funeral will take place on Tuesday…………..
