A-Rod hit by call-girl claim as Eliot Spitzer makes a comeback

Eliot Spitzer and Alex Rodriguez

Kristen Davis, the madam who found fame after it was discovered last year that the New York state governor, Eliot Spitzer (left), was paying $1,000 a night for the services of one of her call-girls, has hit the New York headlines again - this time at the expense of the New York Yankees star Alex 'A-Rod' Rodriguez (right).

Unlike Spitzer, it seems Rodriguez did not always have to pay for the services Davis offered via her Wicked Models service, Former staff at Davis's brothels have told the New York Daily News that Rodriguez so charmed Davis that she even dated him herself.

The romance is said to have begun in a Philadelphia gym in 2006 where a then-married Rodriguez allegedly approached Davis to ask: "What are you doing tonight?" Davis told the baseball player that she was having dinner with her boyfriend but gave him the business card of her newly opened Philadelphia brothel.

The Daily News claims Rodriguez duly booked a two-hour 'date' with one of Davis's girls and subsequently became a regular customer. According to Davis's former employees though, A-Rod soon turned his attention back to Davis herself and the pair exchanged a series of flirtatious emails while going on the occasional date.

"In regard to Alex," said Davis, "all I can say is our paths have definitely crossed personally and professionally. Rodriguez's spokesman has so far declined to comment on the latest news to bedevil the baseball star, already in trouble with his wife Cynthia because of his friendship with Madonna and with his teammates because of the recent revelation that he used steroids in 2003 when he played for the Texas Rangers.

Meanwhile, after being forced to resign as governor because of his expensive encounters with Wicked Models call-girl Ashley Alexandra Dupre behind his wife's back, Eliot Spitzer is carefully resurrecting his career.

He used a recent column for the online magazine Slate to lash out at Wall Street financiers – the first time anything had been heard from Spitzer since he resigned in March 2008. And on Sunday night Spitzer gave his first interview (see video below) since the scandal erupted to CNN's Fareed Zakaria - again lashing out at the bankers he frequently accused of malpractice long before the world’s financial system began to fall apart.

"You remember him as the governor of New York who resigned after a scandal involving prostitution," said Zakaria as he introduced Spitzer. "But think back before then. He was the attorney general of New York who went after Merrill Lynch, prosecuted AIG and several other institutions for practices he argued were corrupt, fraudulent and illegal."
