Google guy plans super-lavish wedding

Larry Page Lucy Southworth

Google co-founder Larry Page has found a good way to spend some of the $20bn he's supposed to be worth - he's getting married on Saturday and he's doing it in style. Page, 34, who was considered the most eligible bachelor in the States, is to marry his girlfriend of over a year Lucy Southworth, a 27-year-old doctoral student at Stanford. And just to make it really complicated and super-expensive, the wedding is to take place on Necker, the Virgin island privately owned - and rented out when he's not using it - by Richard Branson.

The trouble is there's only really one house on Necker so Page has had to book all the accommodation on the neighbouring island of Gorda for his friends. Boats and ferries have been hired to transport guests to Necker in what looks like the biggest fleet of small craft to be amassed since Dunkirk.

Guests include U2 frontman Bono, landlord Branson, and various billionaire entrepreneurs Page and his co-founder Sergey Brin rub shoulders with these days. Russian-born Brin has already tied the knot: he married Anne Wojcicki, a biotech analyst, in the Bahamas in May this year.
