In Brief: Lily Allen set to record show

Singer Lily Allen, who had a miscarriage last week, is pressing on with plans for her new BBC3 TV show. Lily Allen And Friends is due to be recorded on Wednesday... Florence Brudenell-Bruce, the girlfriend of British Formula One driver Jensen Button, has been recruited by John Lewis in a drive to "sex up" the department chain's brand... Newsnight anchor Jeremy Paxman has emailed Sir Stuart Rose, the chief executive of Marks & Spencer, detailing his anxiety" about M&S underpants, which he said no longer offered "adequate support"... Michael Barrymore has landed the part of Spike Milligan in a play about the late comic's life, at the Theatre Royal in Windsor next month... Former butler Paul Burrell's website has been abruptly shut down following his public humiliation at the Diana inquest last week ... Britney Spears has dumped her British paparazzi boyfriend Adnan Ghalib and filed a restraining order against him after discovering he was trying to make £5m by selling intimate photographs of her... Cloverfield, the horror film from Lost creator J.J. Abrams, about a monster that attacks New York, has proved itself the first big movie of 2008, taking $41m at the north American box office over its first weekend... A German historian, Guido Knopp, has compared Tom Cruise's performance in a leaked Scientology video with the style of the Nazi propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, especially a scene in which Cruise, speaking from a podium, asks: "So what do you say, we gonna clean this place up?" and is greeted by zealous cheers. Knopp says it "inevitably" recalled Goebbels's speech in a Berlin sports stadium when he asked "Do you want total war?" and the crowd thundered "Yes!"... Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are planning to adopt a fourth child, a little girl from Africa, according to Jolie's brother James Haven...
