Gates calls for new kind of capitalism

Bill Gates

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has turned his attention to the world's poor with a call for a new kind of capitalism to help raise them out of poverty. In his final speech to the World Economic Forum in Davos before retiring as head of the computer software giant to concentrate on his charitable organisation the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Gates (right) said there was a need for "a creative capitalism" that serves wealthier people as well as the neediest. He called on corporations to devote some of the time and energies of their most creative innovators to solving the problems of the world's poorest nations.

Meanwhile, elswhere in Davos, former supermodel Naomi Campbell was spotted at at a German publisher's party, presumably delighting the gathered economic gurus with her insights into the South American situation following her recent interview with President Hugo Chavez in Venezuela and meeting with President Christina Fernandez in Argentina.
