Jemima and Imran show solidarity
Pakistan opposition leader Imran Khan was re-united briefly with his ex-wife Jemima yesterday, as they joined a 400-strong demonstration outside Downing Street. Protestors booed and waved pictures of slain opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, as Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf held talks in London with Gordon Brown. Musharraf posed for pictures with the Prime Minister and his wife Sarah in front of Number 10 before heading inside.
Jemima Khan, who lives in Britain, said the reunion with her former husband - a former Pakistan cricket captain as well as head of Pakistan's Tehreek-e-Insaf party – happened by chance. "It just happened that coincidentally he was here ... and I thought it would be a really good boost if he could come. It just shows how high emotions are running," she said. Last November, Imran Khan spent a week in a southern Punjab prison under anti-terrorism laws. He began a hunger strike before being released.
