Richard Nicholl’s evening wear delights London Fashion crowd
Black silk cocktail dresses and tuxedo-inspired oversized jackets were highlights in the collection of Richard Nicholl, one of the star attractions of London Fashion Week. In 2007 Nicholl was named one of Fashion Forward's winning designers along with Sinha-Stanic and Jens Laugesen. On Wednesday the British-born, Australian-raised designer, who only graduated from Central Saint Martins College in 2002, played on masculine tailoring. Like Nicole Farhi, the veteran British designer who showed her new collection on the same day, Nicholl unveiled tuxedo-inspired oversized jackets, along with bowler and top hats. His look, however, was sharper and more Eighties-inspired. The final outfit - a white mini-dress with a giant white bow - was a cheeky nod to the traditional catwalk finale, a show-stopping wedding dress.
