The best (and worst) Oscar moments
BEST ACTRESSY MOMENT: Marion Cotillard, backstage after winning best actress Oscar for La Vie en Rose: "It feels so good. I'm totally overwhelmed with joy and sparkles and fireworks, and everything which goes like BAM! BAM! BAM!' [It's as if] I just ate all those things, and it's happening right here, right now," she said. "It's so unexpected, it's surreal, but I love it, I love it." The French actress then rattled off a list of actors who had inspired her, including Peter Sellers. "I wanted to marry him when I was a child," she confessed.
BEST ACTORLY MOMENT: Daniel Day-Lewis, winner of best actor for There Will Be Blood, when asked by a journalist backstage what he did to unwind in his spare time: "The great thing is, I don't have to talk about that, I can just do it... Why? Because it's none of your f-ing business, that's why!"
BEST ACCEPTANCE SPEECH: Tilda Swinton, winner of the best supporting actress Oscar, thanking her Michael Clayton co-star: "George Clooney, you know, the seriousness and the dedication to your art, seeing you climb into that rubber batsuit from Batman & Robin - the one with the nipples, every morning under your costume, on the set, off the set, hanging upside-down at lunch - you rock man."
BEST POLITICAL GAG: Jon Stewart, this year's Oscars host, on Away From Her, in which Julie Christie portrays a woman who has forgotten who her husband is... "Hillary Clinton called it 'the feelgood film of the year'," said the Daily Show presenter.
BEST FASHION RUMPUS: Diablo Cody (pictured), invited to wear a million-dollar pair of diamond-encrusted shoes created by Stuart Weitzman, wrote on her MySpace.com page before the ceremony: "I'm flattered that they picked me (surprise!) to wear the Pimp Shooz... [but] I'm actually really pissed about this... They're using me to publicise their stupid shoes and NOBODY ASKED ME. I would never consent to a lame publicity stunt at a time when I already want to hide."
In a statement, Weitzman said: "Diablo Cody is a wonderful, talented writer, whose movie I enjoyed watching. I will certainly be rooting for her on Sunday evening. We wish her the best."
