Jack backs Hillary in battle of videos

Actor Jack Nicholson has taken his endorsement of Hillary Clinton to the internet. In a string of movie clips he's called Jack and Hill, Nicholson puts his support into the mouths of his most famous film characters. The promo, which has not been endorsed by Clinton, begins with Nicholson as the Joker from Batman saying: "And now, folks, it's time for 'Who do you trust?' " followed by the words: "Don't we need a President we can trust to be ready to go on day one?"

"Things could be better, Lloyd," Nicholson says as Jack Torrance, the murderous caretaker from The Shining. "Things could be a whole lot better." In the movie, of course, Nicholson's character then goes on a deadly rampage. But in the promo, a message flashes saying Clinton "has a plan to deal with the nearly 47m Americans without health care".

But Nicholson's video looks unlikely to match a second celebrity sing-a-long from the Black Eyed Peas' frontman Will.i.am in terms of exposure. The hip hop artist's new video backing Barack Obama features Jessica Alba, Ryan Phillipe and Macy Gray among others performing We Are the Ones. It follows Yes We Can which was a huge hit on YouTube last month. By Sunday night, We Are the Ones had already clocked 417,000 views on YouTube, against 57,000 views for the Nicholson video.

However, Nicholson has the best lines. His video was made with the help of director Rob Reiner who includes clips from his film A Few Good Men, most notably the scene where Nicholson as Col. Nathan Jessep says: "There is nothing on this earth sexier than a woman you have to salute in the morning."
