Obama Girl returns with plea to Clinton to end her campaign
'Obama Girl' is back. The all-singing, all-dancing internet starlet whose first video, I’ve Got a Crush... on Obama, was viewed more than seven million times, has posted a new video. Hillary! Stop the Attacks! features 'Obama Girl' in a spoof sequence from Hillary Clinton's famous '3am phone call' ad, and sees her dancing with Obama on the Ellen show and even table-dancing for Hillary Clinton. The fact that she appears in a bikini, negligee and short-shorts will doubtless boost the video's popularity.
The message to Clinton is clear: "Although Obama's gonna win it / You're sorta kinda staying in it", and later "These attacks are insane / They just help John McCain".
'Obama Girl' is Amber Lee Ettinger (above), a New York-based model and actress who, apart from starring in the videos, has had very little to do with them. The songs were written and sung by Leah Kauffman, who came up with idea for Obama Girl with advertising executive Ben Relles. Obama's campaign team claims to have had nothing to do with the videos, although Obama himself said the first video (sample lyric: "You can Barack me tonight") upset his young daughter.
Such is her popularity that the shirt and tiny red shorts worn by Ettinger in the first video were eventually auctioned for thousands of dollars to raise money for charity. Notions of Ettinger being the new face of youth politics were quashed, however, when it emerged that she had not bothered to vote in the Democratic primaries.
