Businessman ‘snaps up Monroe sex tape’
A black and white movie of Marilyn Monroe performing oral sex on an unidentified man has just been sold for $1.5m, according to the New York Post. The film was discovered by Keya Morgan, a specialist in Hollywood memorabilia, who came across it while researching a documentary about the actress.
According to Morgan, the movie, which is 15 minutes long and is shot on 16mm film, has had an interesting history. He says it came into the hands of the FBI back in the 1960s, causing J. Edgar Hoover to spend weeks trying to ascertain whether the man in the film was either John F. Kennedy or his brother Robert.
The film is said to show Monroe on her knees in front of a man whose face is just out of shot. "You see instantly that it's Marilyn Monroe - she has the famous mole," says Morgan, who brokered the sale of the film earlier this month. He claims it went to a wealthy New York businessman who wants to keep this unseemly part of Monroe's past buried out of respect. "He said he's just going to lock it up," Morgan says.
Interest in Monroe, who died of an overdose of prescription drugs in 1962, shows no sign of abating. A portrait of the actress (pictured) by Richard Avedon went for $380,000 - almost four times its upper estimate of $70,000 - at an auction at Sotheby's, New York last week.
