Nicky Blair may join NUT strike
Tony Blair's son Nicky (pictured far right) is planning to join the National Union of Teachers in its first national strike for more than two decades. Nicky, 21, who is currently teaching at a comprehensive school in the West Midlands, will join a nationwide stoppage and may also attend a rally being staged in Birmingham to protest over teachers' pay, according to sources in the NUJ.
His involvement emerges as Britain's biggest private teaching agency announced it would refuse to offer supply cover for striking teachers on Thursday.
Oxford graduate Nicky is said to be far more of a socialist than his father, and has signed up for a minimum of two years working at a comprehensive school in one of the country's most deprived areas.
Unlike his parents, who both went into highly paid careers as barristers, Nicky doesn't seem too bothered about money. His current salary is £17,800.
