In brief: Sarandon and Ricci at Wachowski brothers’ premiere

Oscar-winner Susan Sarandon (right) joined co-stars Christina Ricci (centre) and Emile Hirsch (left) in London's Leicester Square on Tuesday night for the UK premiere of Speed Racer, the first writing/directing collaboration for brothers Larry and Andy Wachowski since The Matrix movies... Salman Rushdie - who has been married four times, most recently to Padma Lakshmi - has hit out at the institution of marriage, saying that he does not believe in it and that women only want a wedding "for the dress"... Paul Weller claims that he turned down a CBE because he didn't want to have his photo taken with then-Prime Minister Tony BlairJohn Lennon's handwritten lyrics for the hit song Give Peace a Chance will go under the hammer at auction in July and are expected to fetch £200-300,000. According to Christie's, who are handling the sale, Lennon gave the lyrics to a fan as a memento, telling her: "One day they will be worth something"… The wife of actor Terence Stamp successfully petioned for a divorce in the High Court yesterday. When they married five years ago, his now ex-wife Elizabeth O’Rourke expressed concerns that the age difference might prove a problem - he is 68 and she is 31. In the end, the "quickie divorce" was granted for his "unreasonable behavior", a citation that covers all manner of sins…
