Jemima Khan reveals ‘pathological indecision’ over Hugh

It doesn't look as if Hugh Grant and Jemima Khan will be walking down the aisle anytime soon. This is not because of the actor's reluctance to take the plunge, as many have speculated, but a consequence of what Khan calls her "pathological indecision". She says: "It's the big decisions in my life - my direction, relationships, where to live and work - which bring me to my knees. The more pressing and potentially life-changing the decision the more confusing I find it."

In an interview in this month's Vogue, Ms Khan, 34, says that the "chronic affliction" has worsened in the past decade, apparently the cause of her failed marriage to the Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan.

She also reveals a rather eccentric reason she deployed for ending a relationship with an unnamed former beau - because a watch he had given her stopped working. "I took it as the clear signal I needed that our time was finally up," she said.

No one can say she inherited her indecisiveness, which she calls an "affliction", from her father, the late Sir James Goldsmith. When interviewing potential employees over lunch, he would decline them a job if they took more than a few seconds to choose from the menu.
