Tussauds puts Brown waxwork to public vote
Forget the local election results. Forget Boris Johnson becoming London's first Tory mayor. Even forget the upcoming Crewe by-election. Yet another test of Gordon Brown's popularity - or rather unpopularity - is being arranged by Madame Tussauds, who have decided to allow the public to decide whether a doppelganger of the beleaguered Prime Minister should be allowed to appear among the tawdry waxworks in its tourist-trap museum.
No other British head of state has had this problem, but it seems that Brown angered Tussauds when he first became PM by not replying to a request to attend a sitting and be modelled in wax. Never mind that the new PM probably had better things to do, Tussauds petulantly denied him a place in the museum, arguing that he was never elected prime minister by the people. Now, just when his popularity is at an all-time low, they are inviting the people to have their say via a recently created website.
