Downfall spoof shows Hillary’s last days
It may have been all smiles in the Hillary Clinton camp last night following her landslide victory in the Kentucky primary, but many believe a more accurate depiction of her and her campaign team's state of mind can be found on a hilarious mash-up video that has been posted on YouTube.
The clip uses the 2004 German language film Downfall, set in Adolf Hitler’s last days in the bunker as the Soviet army advances on Berlin (a great favourite with mashers, who have used Hitler to complain about Tottenham losing 3-1 or rant about Microsoft cancelling his Ibox, among other things). In this version, Hitler, of course, becomes Hillary. The (sub-titled) opening speech begins: "These little state primaries are not important. The superdelegates will secure my victory." Around the room, the assembled Nazis, among them the world's first spindoctor Josef Goebbels, look confused.
The suspiciously brilliant script ends with an avowal that Clinton's campaign will be taken to the wire (at the Democratic convention in August): "If they want to see a real bloodbath just wait until the convention. I'll blow myself up! I’ll make 9/11 look like the teacups at Disneyland. I’m not leaving this race until they drag me out."
