Keane quits Sunderland

Roy Keane has believed to quit as manager as Sunderland after holding crisis talks with club chairman Niall Quinn. Sunderland are currently 18th in the Premier League, having lost five of their last six games, and will travel to Keane's old club Manchester United on Saturday. Keane was booed after the Black Cats' last game, a 4-1 defeat to Bolton on Saturday, and admitted afterwards that he had doubts about whether he should continue as manager. He told the media: "I ask myself every day if I'm the right man for Sunderland. I asked myself this morning, and I said I was. Sunday morning, if the answer's no, we'll have to look at it." The former Nottingham Forest and Manchester United midfielder took over at Sunderland in 2006, with the club languishing in the lower reaches of the Championship, and guided them to promotion that same season. Keane has spent nearly £70m on 33 players since his arrival at the club, however Sunderland finished 15th in their first season in the top flight, avoiding the drop by three points. This season Sunderland started brightly, but have since suffered a dramatic slump.
