Chelsea determined to sign Kaka

Chelsea are determined to complete the world-record signing of Kaka from AC Milan, but they will have to wait until next year to do so. They hope to agree a deal in the January transfer window. Chelsea have been pursuing the World Player of the Year all summer and hoped manager Luiz Felipe Scolari would help to convince him of the merits of such a move. Milan have been stubborn in their refusal to sell, and Kaka signed a new deal in April. But the Italians have indicated they may be willing to do business in the future. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is said to be willing to pay whatever it takes, in wages and transfer fees, to seal his dream transfer. (Telegraph: 15/08/08)
