Chelsea go public in £20m Robinho chase
After all the speculation and rumour, Chelsea have finally put in an offer for Real Madrid's Brazilian Robinho - offering £19.7m for the player. Although the clubs had been in contact for some time over a move, it was thought to hinge on Real landing Ronaldo as a replacement. But, although Ronaldo has now pledged his immediate future to Manchester United and Real have begun negotiating a new deal for the Brazilian winger, Chelsea have made their move with a public offer. Their chances of landing the player are good - Robinho is keen to link up with fellow countryman Luiz Felipe Scolari and double his salary of £35,000 a week. (Mail: 08/08/08)
