Fulham want Felipe Caicedo from City

Fulham have opened talks with Manchester City about signing 20-year-old striker Felipe Caicedo - just to prove it's not all about bringing players in at Eastlands.

The Ecuadorian, who joined Sven Goran Eriksson's ancien regime at City in a £5.2m deal, has scored three goals in seven appearances this season but has slipped down the pecking order thanks to the arrival of Craig Bellamy from West Ham.

Fulham, despite their strikeforce of Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson, have managed just 19 goals in 20 Premier League outings this season and would be interested in either a loan deal or a permanent switch, and a full-time deal could involve a player switch - although it remains to be seen who City might ask for in return. Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson is also keen on Greek striker Angelos Charisteas at Nuremberg.

Another City player whose nose has been put out of joint by Craig Bellamy, even before the fiery Welshman has arrived, is Darius Vassell, who is being lined up by Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell as a replacement for James Beattie, who joined Stoke earlier in the month.
