Hughes insists Kaka bid is still on

AC Milan

Manchester City's pursuit of Kaka is, perhaps unsurprisingly, becoming mired in rumour and counter-rumour with sources in Abu Dhabi claiming that the club have withdrawn their £100m bid for the 2007 world player of the year, (and possibly his team mates Gennaro Gattuso and Dida). Yet Mark Hughes and his assistant Mark Bowen have both said they believe that negotiations are ongoing. It is also reported that AC Milan have accepted City's bid, leaving it up to the player hmiself. But there seem to be conflicting signals coming from the 26-year-old midfielder. Kaka yesterday appeared to turn down the idea of a move when he expressed a desire to "grow old" at Milan. Conversely, he has previously stated a desire to play in the Premier League, while his adviser Diogo Kotscho intimated that the player would be interested in talking to City.
