Newcastle sign Xisco and Nacho

Newcastle United have signed Spanish striker Xisco - full name Francisco Jimenez Tejada - from Deportivo La Coruna on a five-year deal for £5.7m, which could rise to £8.2m in time. The 22-year-old had been on loan at UD Vecindario, of Spain, scoring five goals in consecutive matches. He will rejoin former Deportivo team mate Fabricio Coloccini at St James Park. Kevin Keegan has also signed Ignacio Gonzalez, nicknamed Nacho, the Uruguayan midfielder, on a season-long loan from Valencia. (Times: 02/09/08)
