Robinho ‘rejects’ Real contract

Chelsea have confirmed that they are still in the chase for Real Madrid's Brazilian playmaker Robinho. "We have confirmed we are interested in Robinho and have had some conversations with the club," said chief executive Peter Kenyon. And their hopes have been given a boost by fresh reports from Spain that the 24-year-old has rejected a new five-year contract worth around £60,000-a-week. Robinho's wages would be as much as twice that amnount at Chelsea, but Madrid's willingness to sell may rest on their success in recruiting Cristiano Ronaldo. (Telegraph: 25/07/08)
