Silvestre completes Emirates switch
Mikael Silvestre became the first Manchester United in more than 30 years to swap Old Trafford for Arsenal when he completed his move to the north Londoners yesterday for a fee of £750,000. He turned down other clubs including Manchester City, Sunderland and Paris St Germain and the chance of a testimonial with United next year to join the Gunners. He had fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and has opted to head south for the chance of Champions League football. Brian Kidd was the last Manchester United player to move to Arsenal back in 1974. (Telegraph: 21/08/08)
