Zenit pull plug on Spurs deal

Andrei Arshavin's move to Spurs is definitely off. Although the 27-year-old Russian was eager to move, a fee could not agreed with Zenit St Petersburg who refused to budge on their £20m valuation. The Russian club say that Spurs missed a deadline earlier this week to come up with the money for the player. The London club have now begun to size up other options, including Luis Fabiano, the Sevilla striker, who has a £12m buy-out clause in his contract. (Guardian: 22/08/08)
