Hillary’s biggest lie

Bill Clinton’s former advisor Dick Morris has said that Hillary Clinton’s U-turn on the NAFTA trade agreement is her biggest and most serious deception. Writing for FoxNews.com Morris claims that Clinton’s lies about dodging sniper fire, being named after Sir Edmund Hilary and meeting dying women with no health care are harmless compared to her claim that she disagreed with Bill on NAFTA.

She was a strong supporter, says Moris. Her memoirs, Living History make no mention of any opposition to NAFTA, and at the time she attended many meetings designed to speed up its implementation. She was also involved with the drive to get former presidents to endorse the bill.

Expecting us to believe that she never did any of this shows the true extent of her arrogance.

NAFTA was a cornerstone of the Bill Clinton administration. His goal was to “lead America to compete successfully in the new global economy”, and NAFTA played a large part in that plan. Bill Clinton’s courage in pursuing success in the free market at the expense of jobs in places like Pennsylvania and Detroit is now being undermined by Hillary’s political opportunism.

From 1993 to 1996 Hillary Clinton spoke at meetings and made statements promoting NAFTA. As recently as 2002 she told the Democratic Leadership Council that NAFTA stood as a testament to the success of her husband’s presidency. Now she claims she was against NAFTA all along. Are we expected to accept this?
