Florida: there’s nothing in it between McCain and Romney

John McCain and Mitt Romney are running neck and neck in Florida on the eve of the Republican primary, according to the latest Rasmussen poll. The two men are on 31 per cent each. They are trailed by Rudy Giuliani on 16 per cent, a potential disaster for the former New York mayor who looks to have pursued an ill-advised campaign strategy of missing the early primaries and banking on a Florida win.

Giuliani went so far as to hint yesterday that he may even drop out of the race if he doesn't win in Florida. "When it's Wednesday morning we'll make the decision," he said on board his plane.

Mike Huckabee has lost the head of steam he enjoyed after New Hampshire, and comes in fourth on 11 per cent. His campaign has suffered from a lack of funds.

Republicans in Florida:

John McCain 31

Mitt Romney 31

Rudy Giuliani 16

Mike Huckabee 11

Ron Paul 4
