McCain - the forgotten candidate

John McCain has been all but forgotten in the race for the presidency, writes Alexander Cockburn on The First Post today. President Bush has evidently allowed McCain to sink into obscurity - no doubt motivated by the animosity which characterised their vicious nomination fight in 2000.

Both men are lost, says Cockburn. The President cannot get his approval ratings out of the 20s, while McCain has been relegated to the sidelines of this year’s election "flailing wildly, whining that it's Obama's fault that the price of oil is bankrupting Americans."
