On a tour of Britain in 1926, the magician Harry Houdini enters into a passionate affair with a psychic. Gillian Armstrong was part of the movement dubbed the Australian New Wave, a group of filmmakers and performers who emerged from Down Under at about the same time in the early 1980s. Her most successful films include My Brilliant Career (1979), High Tide (1987), The Last Days Of Chez Nous (1992), Little Women (1994) and Charlotte Gray (2001).
