A high school teacher's unusual experiment to demonstrate to his students what life is like under a dictatorship spins horribly out of control. German filmmaker Dennis Gansel made short films before directing the features The Dawn, Girls On Top (both 2001) and Before The Fall (2004). The Wave won the Film Award in Bronze at the German Film Awards and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, 2008.
